Replacing rockwool with more sustainable materials, such as coir, is an effective measure to improve the sus-
tainability of soilless cultivation in the greenhouse. To comprehensively assess the feasibility of coir before using
it widely, coir was compared to rockwool as a cucumber cultivation substrate to evaluate its performance on
mineral elements in the substrates, drainage, and in the plants. The authors calculated P using t student
According to Lizhong et al. (2022) They analyzed contents of N, P, K, Ca, Mg Na, Cl, S, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, B, Mo. Also, they analyzed the different amino acids : His, Leu, Ile,
Phe, Lys, Asp, Glu, Pro, Thr, Gly, Val, SS, TC, PS, TP, CLL, CuB, LA.
The cucumber postassium of the leaves in organic conditions is 36.20±4.68 1g/kg and in conventional conditions is 34.97±4.37 1g/kg. The authors said that P < 0.05 and n=3. Using this data, in the website Graphpad Students T test online the result is P > 0,05 so it's wrong.
Since the potassium data for cucumber leaves was wrong, I calculated the P of the potassium of the fruit, the conventional fruit has a potassium of 56.28±3.05 1g/kg and the organic one of 57.33±0.57 1g/kg the author said that P < 0.05 and the result is P > 0.05.
Sulfur of the leaves in the organic cucumber is 10.53±1.07 1g/kg and in the conventional one is 8.20±0.53 1g/kg, this time P = 0.0278 so the authors said the truth because they said P < 0.05.
Boron of the leaves in the organic cucumber is 29.87±1.8 1mg/kg and in the conventional one is 31.47±0.93 1mg/kg, the authors said that P < 0.05 and in this case, P = 0.2432, so it's wrong.
Since the Boron data for cucumber leaves was wrong, I calculated the P of the boron of the fruit the conventional fruit has a boron of 24.08±1.08 1mg/kg
and the organic one of 24.83±0.55, the result was that P = 0.3442 so this is also wrong.
I have also verified the zinc in cucumber leaves and taking into account that the conventional zinc is 41.00±1.73 1mg/kg, the organic 50.67±2.89 1mg/kg and that this gives P = 0.0076, the statement that the authors give us that P < 0.05 it's correct
I have also compared the results of the amino acids of the cucumber fruit taking into account that n= 3
Taking the conventional (143.1±2.66 μg/g) and organic (182.35±6.89 μg/g) values of histidine from cucumber, it gives us that P = 0.0008, so the statement of P < 0.05 is true.
On the contrary, if we take the values of valine, they tell us that the amount in conventional is 53.7±0.29 μg/g and in organic it is 54.6±0.66 μg/g and this gives us that P = 0.0966 so since the authors have told us that P < 0.05 it is wrong
I have also checked the phenylalanine values, when we calculate the P values of 53.9±0.35 1μg/g (as conventional) and 64.8±0.73 1μg/g (as organic) it gives us a result of 0.0001, so the statement that P < 0.05 is correct
